Lucknow: Devotees at ISKCON Lucknow observed Bhadra Purnima with spiritual discussions and guidance on the significance of Chaturmas, as Param Pujya Bhaktivedanta Rukmini Krishna Goswami Maharaj, President of ISKCON Punjabi Bagh, Delhi, visited the temple.
Speaking on the significance of Bhadra Purnima, Goswami Maharaj described it as a spiritually auspicious day and encouraged devotees to bring the Srimad Bhagavatam into their homes with proper rituals and worship. He also urged devotees to donate and distribute the scripture and study and hear it under the guidance of a qualified spiritual teacher.
He further recalled that Bhadra Purnima also marks the day when Srila Prabhupada accepted the renounced order of life, dedicating himself completely to his spiritual master and Lord Krishna and resolving to spread Krishna consciousness.
Goswami Maharaj also spoke about the third month of the sacred Chaturmas period, Ashwin month, which will be observed from September 27 to October 26, 2026. During this period, devotees are encouraged to observe specific spiritual disciplines, including abstaining from milk consumption as part of the traditional Chaturmas observance.
He emphasised that the sacred months of Chaturmas provide an opportunity to deepen one’s engagement in devotional service, chanting and remembrance of the Lord. Regular spiritual practices, he said, can help devotees progress spiritually and understand the deeper purpose of human life.
The programme concluded with greetings to devotees for a spiritually enriching and transformative third month of Chaturmas, Ashwin month.
